Staying at Lacock bed and breakfast offers you the perfect place from which to explore the Cotswolds and Wiltshire in general. Within Lacock itself you could visit Lacock Abbey, founded in 1232 and converted into a country house c.1540, the Abbey hosts events throughout the year: log on to the
National Trust to find out more. You can also discover all about the history of photography at the Fox Talbot Museum. There are several English Inns, a jewellers, a bakery, a pottery, a church, a 14th century Tithe Barn and of course local shops.
Further afield the Georgian city of
Bath is about 20 minutes away, whilst the traditional market towns of
Chippenham and Devizes (with its famous
Cain Hill Locks) are barely 10 minutes drive.
Corsham Court is also close by offering a stately home featuring rooms furnished by Robert Adam and Chippendale, and grounds laid out by Capability Brown and Repton, and a famous collection of old master paintings. You might also wish to enjoy the beautiful grounds of
Bowood Estate, or perhaps spend an afternoon walking exploring the vast collection of trees at
Westonbirt Arboretum.
